Carolina Chemistries offers GlycoMark® for General Chemistry Analyzers

Carolina Liquid Chemistries is offering the GlycoMark® blood test for

general chemistry analyzers — such as Beckman, Olympus and Siemens

Advia —that are found in hospitals and reference labs. GlycoMark®

tests for 1.5 -anhydro-D-glucitol- (1.5AG), a blood test that allows

physicians to better manage  postprandial hyperglycemia in patients

with diabetes.

With GlycoMark, physicians do not have to rely solely on hemoglobin

A1c tests for patients glucose levels. HbA1c provides an average of

all blood glucose levels over two to three months, but it does not

show postprandial (after meal) spikes. These glucose spikes can affect

40 percent of patients who otherwise appear to have their diabetes

under control. By gaining more information through the GlycoMark®

test, physicians can target these spikes with specific treatments and

prevent cardiovascular complications.
