Acne Treatment Lasers
Lasers are medical devices that emit pulses of light. They are produced by major equipment manufacturers and are used to treat a variety of medical conditions including lasers that treat acne.
What is Acne?
Acne is a condition that leads to the formation of facial blemishes. Whether they are called zits or pimples, they can be disfiguring. Left untreated, pimples can lead to facial scarring. Although the condition is more typically seen in adolescents, it can and often does remain a problem into adulthood.
Typically, hormone changes in adolescence trigger production of oil in glands located just below the skin. Bacteria can feed on the oil, multiply and cause the pore associated with the gland to become inflamed, leading to a pimple.
Factors such as diet, heredity, stress and other medical conditions can lead to acne formation.
Major drug companies produce a number of pharmaceutical agents that treat milder acne cases well. For more serious cases, medical devices called lasers are used. Major medical equipment manufacturers also produce acne treatment lasers.
Acne Laser Treatment
Laser treatment is typically used for severe and prolonged acne cases. It is thought to work by heating the skin below the surface layer, around the oil-producing gland, decreasing oil production. This decreases bacteria growth and reduces inflammation in the skin.
Acne Laser treatment also reduces skin scarring and may improve the skin’s surface appearance.
