This process reduces the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and areas of skin hyperpigmentation. These skin conditions can occur as a result of normal aging, as well as being brought on by long-term exposure to sunlight. They can appear on the face and on the hands and other body areas exposed to the sun.

Medical equipment manufacturers produce hand-held devices that blow fine crystals onto the surface area of affected skin. The crystals remove the surface layer of skin. A vacuum then gently removes the crystals and the skin cells, after which to the skin appears and feels softer. This physician equipment is commonly used in doctor’s offices on an outpatient basis.
