Varicose veins are lumpy blood vessels that appear at the skin surface, usually in the legs. Medical equipment manufacturers have developed medical devices that are used in physician offices to remove or diminish the appearance of varicose veins.

• Vein stripping, an outpatient surgical procedure to remove enlarged veins.
