VASCULAR LESION REMOVAL LASERS
Medical lasers are devices that produce pulses of light at particular wavelengths. Medical equipment manufacturers produce vascular lesion removal lasers for use in physician offices and other locations.
For treatment of vascular lesions in doctor’s offices, vascular lesion removal lasers focus pulses of light on blood vessel structures called chromophores, which cause discoloration of skin, as in conditions such as “port-wine stain.”
The pulses of light from vascular lesion removal lasers, focused on small blood vessels under the skin, break up the chromophores while sparing surrounding structures, and lessen or remove the lesions with little or no scarring. Vascular lesion removal lasers are commonly used on an outpatient basis in physician offices.
