ASPIRIN ASSAY KITS

Aspirin Assays kits are medical office equipment that measure levels of a byproduct of aspirin use found in urine. Medical manufacturers produce Aspirin Assay kits to enable physicians to determine if aspirin recommended for patients is in fact working. This can be especially important in patients at risk for heart attack and stroke.

Platelets, tiny blood borne particles that play a major role in blood clotting, are thought to contribute to heart attacks and strokes by causing clots that can block blood flow through arteries. Aspirin is often prescribed for patients at risk of such clots because it decreases the tendency of platelets to form clots in vulnerable blood vessels. Aspirin assay kits measure the breakdown product of thromboxane, a substance secreted by platelets when they are likely to form clots. Thromboxane is cleared from blood via the kidneys. Aspirin Assay kits measure the breakdown product in urine and enable physicians to determine the effectiveness of aspirin therapy.
