Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is an infectious illness that is spread via sexual activity. Gonorrhea can occur in any most, warm area of the body, including the genitals, mouth and anus, fallopian tubes, uterus or cervix. Gonorrhea is caused by neisseria gonorrhoeae. Gonorrhea symptoms typically appear within five days of exposure. Medications called cephalosporins are most commonly used to treat gonorrhea. Almost 700,000 people in the U.S. are infected yearly with gonorrhea.
